Is professional color-stripping "safe" for hair?

So my husband finally admitted to me that he misses my blonde hair (it's naturally a "dishwater" blonde, but I used to get it bleached/colored with golden blonde highlights). I have been coloring it auburn for the past 2-3 months to try something new, but now I'm starting to miss my blonde hair too.

Naturally, color-stripping is in order, but would it be too harsh on my recently-dyed hair? If I have too, I can wait a while, but I would rather get my blonde hair back sooner rather than later so I won't have to keep re-dying it red due to fading and roots showing.

Also, would the blonde hair underneath be adequately "revealed", or would I need to get it re-bleached after the stripping? Thanks in advance!

stripping is an amazing proceedure when your tired of a darker color. its safer then bleaching and coloring it blonde. a good salon will use a hair decolorizer. it reverses the dying process by litterally pulling out the artificial pigments in your hair. bleaching the hair just blows up and eats away the pigments, very harsh, much harsher then the color remover. did you use a permanent color to dye it? if so, getting a decolorizer would be your best route and the sooner you get it done, the better. getting it all out is improbable, itll leave a bit of artificial pigment in your hair, but you will get to a shade of blonde if done properly, although it may take a few applications of the decolorizer *can be done in the same day.* I, as a hairstylist, would use rusk elimin8 a few times to pull out as much pigment as possible, then throw in some foils and use a toner to achieve a perfect blonde, i think you'd be very happy with the results. it would take a few hours, and be a bit pricey, but if you want to go back to blonde, and you respect the integrity of your hair, this would be your best option. if you used semipermanent color, then a decolorizer would be unpredictable, because it only works on oxidative color, and not all semis are oxidative, some are direct dyes, and others are a mix of both. you'll need to bleach out the semipermanent color for a predictable blonde. Go to a reputable salon and get a certified colorist to do it, you'll be much happier. be sure to tell your colorist EVERY color you used on your hair on your own, certain colors react very negatively with professional products, your colorist needs to know what you used so they can figure out what they can use. if you saved the box of haircolor, bring it in for them to read. the sooner you get it decolorized the better, older pigments are more difficult to remove. the decolorizer is about as damaging as a color, where as bleach is many times more damaging then a color or decolorizer. Get a good moisture product, and maybe a protien treatment from them, and your hair will be happy and healthy and blonde in no time.happy haircoloring.

well i would say on some matters but not really because your hair might fall out if its to strong and your hair might not grow at all if the tipe of chimicals like that are in it so i say half and half

Stripping your hair isn't especially unhealthy, I've stripped the color (professionally) out of my hair before, however most times you have to rebleach or redye what is uncovered - from my experience it will never completely come out unless rebleached. Because this usually happens in one day, make sure to have some kind of conditioning treatment or buy your own - biolage conditioners work great. Good luck!

I am naturally a blonde to but I lighten it up a few shades more.I got bored one day and dyed it all black(big mistake)and I got it stripped by a professional colorist. Its not exactly the best thing for your hair speaking it drys it up...alot.My hair felt like straw. You should do a deep conditioning treatment at least 2 times a week.Leave it on for 30-60 min and wrap hair in a warm wet towel.Or put it in a shower cap and blast the blow dryer over it for about 10 minutes.

When I got the black stripped out I couldn't go blonde yet because my hair wouldn't be able to handle it.So I dyed it a brownish/red shade.About 2 or 3 months later I think..I went blonde again and my hair was fine.Around my ends were a strawberry blonde though because of the red from before.

If you get it stripped...you should be ok.Just allot of dryness.I don't think you will be able to go blonde right away.Maybe a lighter brown. You will eventually be able to be a blonde again. You just have to work your way up.Good luck.
